drop down menu - I have list LOV of id numbers which returns names and I want to copy displayed selected name in hidden record

Question

I have a button print in buttons region with DA which open a printer window and place a formatted page with records from table in it all functions good. The only problem I have is that the value from List LOV which is id number but I want the dispalyed value instead to be printed. In the grid I have displayed values. I have creates a hidden record to have this display value (name of patient) and added apex.item("hidden_item").getValue in my JS button instruction. Is there someone can help me?
