Print the contents of a multidimensional array php

Question

I am trying to print the contents of a multidimensional array using a while loop. only the word "array" is displayed 4 times on the browser

$i=0;
while ($i < count($cars)) {
   $a = $cars[$i];
   echo $a ."
";
   $i++;
}
