element - Is there a Chrome API or any other simple way to delete content (video/images in iframes)

Question

I am working on a chrome extension that stops web requests to media, and then replaces the content that otherwise would've been shown with local media that this extension also downloads from the web. So far, I was able to get the "downloading media to replace the website media with" by using the Chrome storage API. I am stuck at replacing the video content. What my extension is supposed to accomplish is replacing a full Youtube video with my local media.

If you would like to see my code that physically downloads the content to the computer, I will gladly add it here (I don't really think its relevant which is why I didn't include it).
