npm - Node.js modules gone when installing another module

Question

I want to use mysql2 (not mysql) and socket.io modules in one script.

When I install one of the two modules, the other module is gone and vice versa. Manually download the folders and put in the node_modules folder does not work correctly since my script throws an error because of other indepencies. Really strange because mysql (so not mysql2) works like a charm in combination with socket.io

What am I doing wrong?
