node.js - Deployment of software across multiple client machines

Question

I have a question that I am looking for advice or direction. I have multiple client sites (pcs where we have our nodejs applications deployed). Each application is standalone and communicates with our head office machine. Imagine a point of sale machine across multiple stores that update our head office machine with daily sales.

Now I need to investigate how to upgrade all of these applications without logging into each machine and triggering an upgrade.

I need some advice on what software tools are currently being utilised to handle mass software deployment and software upgrades in this manner, not the solution, just the starting point that I can research .

I was told to look at kubernetes and docker as an option to deploy software as well as keep it updated across multiple clients.
