Tasks spawned using WMIC from SSMS are not finishing

Question

I am using a Stored Procedure to run a Console Application using WMIC.

The actual command looks something like this:

wmic /node:nn.nnn.n.nn process call create "cmd.exe /c (C:FilestringConsoleApp.exe add batch location COL company IPL001 user user.name'user.name')"

A series of tasks are spawned, cmd.exe, comhost.exe and net.exe

When I logged on to the server, dozens of these processes were shown as Running.

Any ideas why these tasks are not finishing? The Log Files generated by the Console App does not give any clues, and shows only Successful Executions.
